Youth Team update UNDER 17'S VICTORY
(Saturday 28th September 2002)
A penalty in the eight minute of stoppage time earned the U17's a dramatic 3-2 victory over Brentford at Molins on Saturday morning. Wanderers came from behind twice to level through Lee Parrach and Nicky Beasant (son of Dave the ex-Wimbledon 'keeper), before a trip on Parrach won the spot kick that was dispatched by Kieron Gradwell. The U19's were without a game.

Tales of a Chairboy FANZINE RETURNS

Wycombe Wanderers Fanzine Tales of a Chairboy made its re-appearance after more than two years away. The new issue featured an interview with Jason Cousins and Dave Carroll and it's hoped this will be reproduced on COTN in the near future.

The Club have responded to recent criticisms of poor communication by arranging an 'open to all' fans forum directly after the Club AGM on Monday 14th October. The event will take place in the Vere Suite from 8.30pm and Lawrie Sanchez will be in attendance along with Chairman Ivor Beeks plus some players, non-playing staff and the new Club caterers

Youth Team update YOUTHS IMPROVEMENT

There were better results for The Wanderers' Youth Teams at the weekend with the U19's drawing 2-2 at Luton Town and the U17's having an excellent 3-2 victory at Portsmouth. And it could have been better as the U19's were leading 2-0 at half-time with goals from Leon Gordon and James Rogers.

Lawrie Sanchez BEEKS SLAMS BOO-BOYS

Chairman Ivor Beeks has slammed Wycombe fans following the midweek defeat to Crewe. He told the Bucks Free Press "I thought out fans were a disgrace. You heard them booing when we went 1-0 up." The Club have issued financial statements for the 2001/2 season that report a net trading loss of £455,000 season compared to a a profit of £150,000 in the previous campaign. See link for more details Wanderers' lose less than expected
Reserves TAYLOR IN FOR RESERVES
(Wednesday 18th September 2002)
Wanderers' Reserves lost 2-0 to Southend United at Buckingham Road in the Avon Insurance Combination. The visitors took the lead after 5 minutes when Roger Johnson handled in the box and Stuart Thurgood converted the resulting penalty. Barrington Belgrave added the second just before the break. The game marked the return of Martin Taylor from injury.

House of Cards? DEPARTURES CONTINUE

The fallout from the Chief Executive debacle continues with COTN understanding that Director of Commercial Development Jon Follenfant is also set to depart Adams Park within the next week. Follenfont, a former NAAFI work colleague of Monkman, was appointed into this new role last June.

Wanderers clawed their way through to the Second Round of the Worthington Cup with 2-1 extra-time victory over Swindon Town at the County Ground. Paul McCarthy popped up to head in the winner for Wycombe.

Wanderers crashed 3-nil at Wigan on Saturday as Lawrie Sanchez stuck with his three up front policy. Lee McCulloch opened the scoring after just 4 minutes and two further goals from Andy Liddell sealed Wycombe's fate.

Wanderers' Reserves went down 3-2 at Portsmouth in the Avon Insurance Combination. Jonny Dixon gave Wycombe the lead on 9 mins. but Pompey struck back with three goals before the break. News DEADLINE HOPE

The Football League are hopeful that FIFA will confirm this week that Nationwide Clubs will be officially exempt from the proposed 'transfer window' system that applies to Premier League Clubs. A temporary agreement currently allows transfers to take place.
