Andy Baird BAIRDY HAS A SHOT

Former Wanderers striker Andy Baird has played a game on trial at Ryman Premier side Aldershot Town alongside former Wycombe teammates Dave Carroll and Jason Cousins. Squad numbers FANS FORUMS DATES

The Club have announced dates for a series of Fans Forums to be held in the Vere Suite during the season. They are Thursday 19th September 2002, Thursday 23rd January 2003 and Thursday 24th April 2003. More details nearer the time.

Injury Update TAYLOR BACK IN TRAINING

Martin Taylor has resumed training after missing the opening week with a knee problem. However, there was set-back when Andy Rammell broke down with a calf injury orginally picked up playing tennis. He's now likely to miss the pre-season trip to Scotland.

The Football League has been approached by Premium TV with a view to restructuring the joint venture that runs the official websites of its member clubs. The slump in internet advertising revenue and the financial problems of PTV owners NTL has forced the issue. Wanderers received around £150,000 from the original deal struck in June 2000 but are unlikely to make any further significant profit under the present deal.

Wanderers' Youth Team got their pre-season programme underway with a friendly/practice match against the England Under 19 side at Bisham Abbey. Jonny Dixon scored Wycombe's goal in a 4-1 defeat. Jason Cousins COUSINS' TESTIMONIAL

Sources close to the Club suggest that 'negotiations are at an advanced stage' with Celtic to visit Adams Park later in the year for the much awaited testimonial game for Jason Cousins. News SURPRISE CHELSEA VISIT

The Club have announced a surprise addition to the pre-season programme with the news that Chelsea will visit Adams Park on Wednesday 31st July. The new 'desso' surface has been given the OK for this money spinning game and the friendly at Maidenhead United on the same day has since been cancelled.
AFC Wimbledon LAWRIE BACKS NEW DONS

Lawrie Sanchez is backing the fans of his former club and their efforts in forming AFC Wimbledon. Dons fans formed 'AFC' as a direct opposition to plans to relocate Wimbledon FC in Milton Keynes. Sanchez was quoted in the press as saying "They've reminded people the game is for the fans".

Ivor Beeks CHAIRMEN IN TV PROTEST

Wanderers' Chairman Ivor Beeks joined representatives from most of the other 71 Football League clubs on Wednesday for a protest against Carlton and Granada. The protest took place outside the respectives London offices of the media giants.

Sam Parkin SAM JOINS SWINDON

Former Wanderers' on-loan Chelsea striker Sam Parkin has joined Swindon Town for their pre-season workout. The 21 year old spent all of last season on loan at Northampton Town but it's thought the Swindon deal will be short term.

Reserves RESERVES LONG HAUL START

Wanderers' Reserves will begin their away 2002/2003 Avon Insurance Combination campaign with a trip to Combination newcomers Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday 21st August. The first 'home' game is scheduled the previous Wednesday against Swindon Town and has now been confirmed by the Club.

Injury Update FULL TRAINING RETURN

The Wanderers' squad returned to daily training on Monday and will be concentrating on sprint work in an effort to improve their match fitness and reaction times.

Pitch work summer 2002 PITCH WAITS FOR DESSO

The Adams Park pitch is due to receive its 'desso' treatment starting on Monday 8th July. Synthetic fibres will be introduced at 20mm intervals and will help reinforce the grass roots. News TICKET SALES GOING WELL

With the early discount date now passed, the Club have now issued just over 3,000 Season Tickets and banked a record £550,000 in receipts. Last season's figure of around 3,300 Season Ticket holders also looks likely to be matched.
News LEAGUE SECURE SKY DEAL
(Friday 5th July 2002)
The Football League has agreed a four-year deal with Sky Sports for the rights to screen matches from the Nationwide Football League, Worthington Cup and LDV Vans Trophy. The deal is worth £95 million in total and will deliver over 300 live matches by the end of the 2005-2006 season. There will 60 live League games per seaason, with 50 from Division One.

The joint bid by the BBC and transmission company Crown Castle has won the battle for digital television licences available following the collapse of ITV Digital. The Independent Television Commission made the decision which signalled defeat for bidders including ITV Digital’s owners Carlton and Granada.
Mystery GREENACRE JOINS STOKE

Former Wanderers' transfer target Chris Greenacre has joined Stoke City on a 'Bosman' free. The 24 year old striker was out of contract at Mansfield Town and becomes Steve Cotterill's first signing since he became City Manager in May.
LDV Vans Trophy LDV TROPHY EXPANDED
(Tuesday 2nd July 2002)
12 teams from the Nationwide Conference will compete in this season's LDV Vans Trophy. They are Halifax Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Yeovil Town, Doncaster Rovers, Morecambe, Stevenage Borough, Scarborough, Chester City, Southport, Leigh RMI, Hereford United and Woking. The First Round starts during the week commencing 21st October.
