What we think: Sam will probably be the first to admit that he had a slow start at Wycombe. Even his first goal for Wycombe, at Wigan, came out of the blue and to make matters worse most national press reports credited the goal to Steve Brown. From a low point of the Boxing Day 2000 defeat at Cambridge came the high of scoring the winning goal against Wolves in the Fourth Round FA Cup tie at Adams Park. Parkin had come off the bench to head home the winner from Steve Brown's cross but had kept a back injury a secret that could have prevented him from being selected. He recovered from his injury to play more vital roles in the two games with Wimbledon in the following round and most Wycombe fans were sad to see him play the last game of his loan spell in the 3-2 defeat at Peterborough on Saturday 24th February. Finished the season on loan at Oldham before rather surprisingly opting to spend the 2001/2002 season on loan at Northampton Town. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
