RESERVES DRAW
(Wednesday 27th February 2002)
Wanderers' Reserves drew 1-1 at home to Northampton Town on Wednesday afternoon in the Avon Insurance Combination. Leeyon Phelan scored Wycombe's goal in the 56th minute after Derek Asamoah has given the visitors a third minute lead.

Wanderers went down 2-0 to Reading in front of a record Football League attendance of 9,250 at Adams Park. Goals from Jamie Cureton (68) and Darius Henderson (90) mean that Wycombe fall to 11th place in the table while The Royals consoldate their position at the top.

YOUTHS BEAT ENGLAND
(Monday 25th February 2002)
Wanderers' Under 17 Youth Team scored an impressive 1-0 victory over an England Under 17 side at Bisham Abbey on Monday morning. Leon Gordon scored Wycombe's goal and Mark Philo went close to adding a second. Joe Mudd kept out England at the other end with a couple of good stops. The game was arranged as a practice match for the England youngsters.

CHIEF EXEC TAKES OFFICE

Wanderers' first ever Chief Executive took office on Monday morning. Former NAAFI man Simon Monkman has been tasked with improving the marketing, Conference Centre and media activities of the Club. The 36 year old is also expected to be heavily involved with finalising the Wasps tenancy agreement that is set to be OK'd later this month.

YOUTH MERIT MATCHES
(Monday 25th February 2002)
The 'Merit Division' matches have been announced for the Under 19 Football League Youth Alliance. Wanderers will be playing the middle division, referred to this season Division Two. The team begin with a home game with Bristol Rovers on Saturday 2nd March. Wycombe won this title in 1999/2000.

WIGAN 0 WYCOMBE 0
(Saturday 23rd February 2002) Wanderers took their first ever point from a visit to the JJB Stadium as they battled to a goalless draw with Wigan Athletic. The result means Wycombe are back up to 9th place in the Division Two table prior to Tuesday's home game with Reading.

YOUTH TEAM NEWS UPDATE

Wanderers U17's Youth Team registered another excellent result on Saturday when they beat
a title seeking Peterborough United 2-0 at Molins Sports Ground. Second-half goals from substitute Leon Gordon spoilt the day for Posh.

Wanderers U19's Youth Team played their final Football League Youth Alliance divisional match on Friday afternoon when they drew 1-1 with Brentford at Molins. Stuart Hole got Wycombe's goal early on before The Bees equalised from the spot after Jack Smillie had fouled.

TUTTLE IN ON LOAN

Wanderers have signed 30 year central defender David Tuttle on a month's loan from Millwall. The former Spurs, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Barnsley player has made just five League appearances for The Lions this season with the most recent being in September. |

JOHNSON SET-BACK

It looks like it's bad news for Roger Johnson following his knee injury at Bournemouth.
The 18 year old went for a scan on Monday and it's understood that the results have revealed a cartilage problem. The former Youth Teamer is now likely to be out for several weeks while the situation is further investigated.

RESERVES LOSE TO CARDIFF
(Wednesday 20th February 2002)
Wanderers' Reserves went down 2-1 at home to Cardiff City on Wednesday afternoon in the Avon Insurance Combination. Paul Brayson opened the scoring for City on 58 minutes but Martyn Lee equalised a minute later when he fired home after Paul Emblen had laid off a free-kick. However, the visitors claimed victory when Martyn Giles shot home on 69 minutes.

SANCH STILL LOOKING

Lawrie Sanchez is still looking out to bolster his squad. After the Blackpool game he said "We hope to be bringing in some new faces between deadline time and the start of next season. If we can get someone in short term then we will. I am always looking for players but at the moment, with three of our central defenders out, we need to get a replacement." |

WYCOMBE 1 BLACKPOOL 4
(Tuesday 19th February 2002) Wanderers slumped to a 4-1 home defeat to Blackpool on Tuesday evening with former on loan striker Richard Walker grabbing two goals for the visitors. Jermaine McSporran got Wycombe's consolation goal when the score was already 3-0.

DEFEAT AT BURNHAM
(Monday 18th February 2002)
A very youthful Wanderers XI went down 3-0 at Burnham on Monday evening in the replay of the Quarter-Final of the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup. Wanderers were three goals down at half-time and never looked like getting back into the game.

BAIRD INJURED AGAIN!
(Monday 17th February 2002) Andy Baird is injured again. He twisted his knee in training and will be out for at least two weeks. Meanwhile Roger Johnson suffered a knee injury at Bournemouth but it's hoped the injury is not as bad as originally feared.

SUSPENSION UPDATE

Michael Simpson is now due a two match ban after being booked against Bournemouth on Saturday. 'Simo' will miss the home game with Bury on Saturday 2nd March and away to Brighton on Tuesday 5th March. |

WIN AND LOSS FOR YOUTHS
(Saturday 16th February 2002)
Wanderers' Youth Team's had mixed fortunes at the weekend. Goals from John-Paul Kelly and Jonny Dixon (2) for the U19's saw QPR beaten 3-2 at Molins Sports Ground. However, the U17's lost 3-1 at Southend after Matty Fox had given Wanderers the lead. The latter game counted as an U19 fixture.

CONTRACT FOR JOHNSON

Central defender Roger Johnson has been rewarded with a contract until June 2005 after impressing for the First Team in recent weeks. The former Wanderers Youth Teamer, who is 19 in April, holds the record for the youngest ever player to make a Football League appearance for The Wanderers.

Wanderers' Reserves went down 2-0 at Gillingham on Thursday afternoon in the Avon Insurance Combination. A youthful looking Wycombe side were beaten by goals from Guy Butters (40) and Guy Ipoua (77). 1st year Scholar Matty Warner made his Reserve team debut for the Wanderers.

WOLVES STRIKER SAYS NO
(Thursday 14th February 2002)
Wolves striker Cedric Roussel has turned down a loan move to Wycombe according to some media reports. The 24-year-old Belgian has been on the transfer list since December having joined Wolves just over a year ago for £1.5m. Apparently Roussel has also turned down a loan move to Stockport County and wants to return to his home country. |

SANCH WANTS IRISH STRIKER
(Saturday 9th February 2002) Lawrie Sanchez has joined the rush to grab Finn Harps goalscoring sensation Kevin McHugh. The 22 year old striker has scored 20 goals this season and Sanchez wants to bring the player to Adams Park for a trial. Full story via link.

UNDER 17's BEAT BRIGHTON

Wanderers' Under 17 Youth Team put in one of their performances of the season when they beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 at Molins Sports Ground on Saturday morning. Triallist Nathaniel Griffiths grabbed an impressive hat-trick on his Wycombe debut. The Under 19's game at Southend United was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Wanderers' Youth Teamer Ian Simpemba has been called up again for Ireland's Under 19 squad. The latest call-up is for a friendly internationals with Portugal in Dublin on Tuesday 19th February and Thursday 21st February.

SIMO SUSPENSION LET OFF

Michael Simpson will not start a two match on Saturday 16th February at Bournemouth after it was revealed that referee Jeff Winter failed to send in FA notification of Simo's booking at Cambridge United. He now stands on nine bookings but the next booking before 8th April will mean a two match ban. |

WASPS READY TO SIGN
(Friday 8th February 2002) It's been revealed that Wasps have formally applied to Rugby England Ltd to play their home games at Adams Park next season. Meanwhile Director of Rugby at Wasps, Nigel Melville, told the BFP that "I hope we can get it sorted within a week". Neither Wasps or Wycombe have made any significant 'official' statements on the matter in the past two weeks.

Ghanaian International Emanuel Sarpong had a trial outing for Wycombe in the Reserve game with Leyton Orient but he's since been told he's not wanted by Lawrie Sanchez, saying "He wasn't better than what we have already got". The 31 year old striker has been playing for Belgium side Endracht Hehelgem this season and has scored 4 goals in 7 outings. |

A scratch Wanderers' Reserve XI went down 2-1 to Leyton Orient on Wednesday afternoon in the Avon Insurance Combination. Steve Watts opened the scoring for the visitors on 15 minutes and although Ben Townsend equalised for Wycombe on 75 minutes, Gary Fletcher scored two minutes later to give the visitors three points.

CHIEF EXEC REVEALED

The Club announced that Simon Monkman will be the first ever Chief Executive to be employed by Wycombe Wanderers FC Limited. The news was revealed at a Press Conference at Adams Park on Wednesday morning. 36 year old Monkman has previous experience with NAAFI and The Bass Group Leisure Sector. QPR-FULHAM DEAL AGREED
(Monday 4th January 2002)
QPR and Fulham have now confirmed an agreement for the Premiership Club to share at Loftus Road for the 2002/3 season. Both Fulham and QPR will be arranging a series of forums to meet members of the local community to discuss the new arrangements. A decision on Wasps proposed move to Adams Park is expected later this week. |

ROGERS GETS A BRONZE

Mark Rogers played 90 minutes for Canada as his home country claimed third place in CONCACAF Gold Cup. Canada came from behind to beat Korea Republic 2-1 at The Rose Bowl, California in front of 14,432 spectators before the final saw USA beat Costa Rica 2-0. Rogers returns to the UK on Monday. |

PORT VALE 1 WYCOMBE 1
(Saturday 2nd February 2002) A Danny Bulman goal on 73 minutes earned Wycombe a deserved point from Saturday's visit to Vale Park. Wycombe had fallen behind in the 23rd minute when John Durnin's kick evaded the Wycombe defence and the ball floated straight over Martin Taylor. Wycombe remain 11th in Division Two.

UNDER 19's THRASHED
(Saturday 2nd February 2002)
Wanderers' Under 19 Youth Team had a rude awakening on Saturday when they were soundly beaten by six goals to one at home to Brighton & Hove Albion. With First Team Manager Peter Taylor looking on, the visitors were 3-0 up inside seventeen minutes and added another on the stroke of half-time. Marc Leach pulled a goal back on 74 minutes but The Seagulls struck twice more before the final whistle. |
