Adams Park OPEN DAY AT ADAMS PARK
(Monday 30th June 2003)
The Club have announced an Open Day at Adams Park on Sunday 27th July. Entrance and parking will be free and the day will run from 11am to 3pm. Supporters will have a chance to see the players training, meet some of the staff and tour the ground. There will also be facilities and amusements for juniors.
Squad numbers REVISED SQUAD FOR 2003/4

A revised Wanderers First Team squad listing for the 2003/4 season has now been confirmed. As expected, the vacant No.1 shirt has be given to Frank Talia, while Roger Johnson gets the No.5 shirt and the No.10 shirt goes to Jermaine McSporran.

Adams Park GROUND DECISION DEFENDED

The Club have defended their decision to sell off the naming rights of Adams Park by claiming it will mean the survival of the Club. Chairman Ivor Beeks told the local press ”This is not a decision that was taken lightly. It went to two or three board meetings before a decision was made."

Kits for 2003-4 NEW KIT LAUNCH DATE

Wanderers new home & away kits will go on sale from Saturday 19th July at both Wanderers in Town (open Monday – Saturday 9am – 5.30pm) and the Clubshop at Adams Park (open 12 noon – 3pm on matchdays). Prices have been frozen from last season. Shirts: Adults £39.99, Kids £29.99. Shorts: Adults £17.99, Kids £13.99. Socks: Adults £7.99, Kids £6.99. Special kids kit deal (all three items) for children’s sizes are £39.99.

MatchdayWYCOMBE GET LIVE GAME

Wycombe have been handed a live TV game on Sky that will see the Division Two home game with Sheffield Wednesday scheduled for Saturday 30th August moved to the following Monday (1st September). Wanderers will pick up £30,000 from Sky as the home club while Wednesday will get £10,000. The game at Adams Park will kick-off at 8pm.

The controversial move to sell off the naming rights to Adams Park was officially announced in a Press Conference on Wednesday 25th June. Loudwater based software company Causeway Technologies have agreed a deal that is loosely described as "worth a significant six-figure sum over the next three years". The club officially announced Loans.co.uk as the new First Team shirt sponsors for season 2003/4 in a Press Conference at Adams Park on Wednesday 25th June. The Club claim "The basic two-year deal is worth in excess of six figures in cash terms", although no specific amounts are mentioned in the Press release which is reproduced in full via the link below.

Carling CupLEAGUE CUP DRAW

Wycombe have been drawn at home to Wimbledon in First Round of the "The Carling Cup". The competition is the latest incarnation of the Football League Cup and brewers Coors have signed a three year deal to replace the Worthington brand also owned by Coors. The one-legged First Round tie will be played at Adams Park during the week commencing 11th August.

New kit KIT SPONSORS REVEALED

Wanderers are set to announce Loans.co.uk as the new kit sponsors in a press conference on Wednesday. It's understood the new deal is for two years but falls short of the £60,000 per year asking price that the Club set in its original quest to find a replacement for Integrity Software. The sponsors name was revealed after the club replaced entrance signs at Adams Park with the name of the new sponsors already in place.

Matchday DUCKS DITCH DONS

Aylesbury United, Wanderers opponents in a pre-season friendly at Buckingham Road on Saturday 26th July, have scrapped their scheduled friendly with Wimbledon on Saturday 12th July because the Division One club were unable to guarantee that it could fufil the fixture. The Ducks had come in for some fierce criticism for agreeing to play their Milton Keynes neighbours and the game was expected to be heavily boycotted.

The Bucks Free Press is reporting that the Adams Park name will be dropped from the title of the ground as part of a new sponsorship agreement. The deal, said to be worth between £150,000 and £300,000 over a three year period, will probably be finalised next week but it thought to have caused a "boardroom split". Financial Director Rod Tomlin said "There is no half-way house. If you don't drop Adams Park from the name, the benefit to the sponsor is diluted because people will continue to call it Adams Park." Mystery THREE JOIN FOR TRAINING
(Friday 20th June 2003)
Three triallists have joined Wanderers for pre-season training. They are former QPR left back Danny Murphy, Beaconsfield right sided defender Steve Dell and former QPR and Motherwell centre-half Karl Ready. 6'1" Ready made 16 appearance for Aldershot last season on a non-contract basis. Lawrie Sanchez is also claiming in the local press to be looking to bring in a Premiership striker on loan to cover for the injured Craig Faulconbridge.

FA Cup FA CUP CASH SET-BACK

Wanderers could be affected by proposals to cut back on sponsorship money offered in the early rounds of the FA Cup. The prize fund has been cut by around £2m for 2003/4 but FA chiefs are proposing to make their savings in all rounds prior to the Third. If the proposals are passed then prize money for First Round victories would be cut from £20,000 to £12,500 while the Second Round prize would be £15,000 instead of £30,000.

The Club have issued a press release appealing for sponsors for the old Main Stand and the Woodlands Stand. The Club is inviting offers in the region of £25,000 for the naming rights to each of these stands with the tender process coming to an end on Friday 4th July 2003. Contact the Club for more details
Matchday VIKINGS SAY NO TO LEE

Former Wanderers midfielder Martyn Lee will not be joining Norwegian club Viking Stavanger. Lee had a trial there in May but Viking director Bjarne Berntsen said to TV2 Nettavisen "Martyn Lee has been sent back to England without a contract suggestion in his luggage". Martyn Lee - Player spotlight
Lawrie Sanchez FANS FORUM REPORTS
On Thursday 17th April 2003 close to 400 Wanderers' fans packed into The Vere Suite at Adams Park to hear the views of Club officials as well as having a chance to air their own opinions and questions. Sean Devine CLUB CHASE DEVINE MONEY

Local press reports suggest that Wanderers are still chasing up Exeter City for the latest £10,000 installment of Sean Devine's transfer fee. The most recent chunk of money was due on 19th April after Devine had completed 20 appearances for The Grecians. However, Wanderers, who have received just £30,000 from the deal to date, will be a long way down the list of creditors of a club over £2m in debt and now in the Conference.

The Club will announce the new First Team shirt sponsors in a press conference on Wednesday 25th June. It's understood the deal will run for two years with no get out clauses and is with a company who has worked with the Club for a number of years. A seperate deal over the naming rights of Adams Park is still being thrashed out with another company.
Youth Team update YOUTHS MEET PARAGUAY

Wanderers Youth Team have been lined up for another prestigious pre-season friendly, this time against the Paraguay Under 19 side. The match will take place at Bisham Abbey Sports Centre on Thursday 31t July, kick-off 2pm. Last season the Youth's played England Under 19's.
Reserves RESERVES IN NEW LEAGUE

Wanderers' Reserves will play in a restructured Football Combination next season following financial concerns from member clubs. The league, sponsored next season by Pontins Holidays, will be split into two regions - 'Wales & West' and 'Central & Eastern'. Adrian Cole YOUTH OFFICER DEPARTS

The Club have confirmed the departure of Youth Development Officer Adrian Cole after nearly nine years with the Club. The departure is not thought to be connected with the funding problems associated with the Centre of Excellence but comes after a restructure of the Youth set-up at the Club. However, at present the Club say there are no plans to replace the role.

Adams Park NEW SAFETY OFFICER

A month after it was reported that Frank Knowles had departed as Safety Officer of Adams Park, the Club have announced a replacement. He is Richard Stanford who takes on a new full-time role of Stadium Manager/Safety Officer. He had previously spent four years as a deputy officer with Northampton Town.
Lawrie Sanchez CHANCES FOR 2003/4?

While bookies rank Wycombe as long shots to win promotion from Division Two in in 2003/4, Lawrie Sanchez believes it will be more of a level playing field next season particularly with big spending Wigan and Cardiff promoted to Division One. Wanderers have been quoted as 16/1 to gain promotion with only Chesterfield at longer odds. See link for full story.

Youth Team update YOUTH FUNDING SCARE
(Tuesday 10th June 2003)
Local press reports are running scare stories that Wanderers Centre of Excellence (Under 9's to 15's) could be in jeopardy due to lack of Government funding. The story, first reported nationally in April, means that Wycombe received a £13,800 grant at the end of April instead of their expected £34,500 quarterly total. The Football League have been making representations to the Government in an attempt to claim the promised money which is also made up from contributions from The FA, Premier League, PFA and distributed by Sport England.

The trimmed down Wanderers squad returned to training on Monday with the aim again to build up fitness before embarking on full training sessions. Craig Faulconbridge, Jermaine McSporran and Michael Simpson all missed the opening session due to injury. Simmo hoped to return the following week.

Press reports indicate Lawrie Sanchez is hoping to add a striker and a defender to the squad before the season starts and efforts are being made to find funds. In addition, the pre-season friendly with West Ham on Tuesday 29th July is being used to top up the Friends of Wycombe Wanderers Players Trust Fund.
News PLAY-OFF IDEA SHELVED
(Thursday 5th June 2003)
The proposal to extend the number of clubs in the play-offs from four to six was removed from the agenda at the Football League AGM following reservations from the FA and the Premier League. Proposals to penalise club's going into administration were also deferred until an EGM in September. Changes were agreed to introduce performance related pay and for the reduction in the required ground capacity for Conference clubs.
News LEAGUE MEETING
(Thursday 5th June 2003)
The Football League's AGM took place at Gillingham FC on Thursday where club representatives were due to vote on a number of major proposals. The proposals included changes to the play-off system, the introduction of parachute payments for relegated clubs, penalties for clubs going into administraion, wage capping and the reduction in the required ground capacity of clubs promoted from the Conference to 4,000.
News PFA PUBLISH RELEASED LIST

The Professional Footballers Association has today published a list of 586 Premiership and Football League players that will be out of contract at the end of June. The number is only an increase of 24 compared to last season but it's expected that many players will be left without clubs come the start of the new season in August.

As previously reported the Club are hoping to announce a new First Team shirt sponsor later this month. The final details of the contract are currently being finalised and an official statement will follow. Club sources also suggest that the stadium naming rights for Adams Park have also been agreed in what is thought to be a joint deal with tenants London Wasps.
News HAKKY IS BOSS
(Monday 2nd June 2003)
Former Wanderers midfielder Hakan Hayrettin is hoping to lead Waltham Forest on to great things following the renaming of the club from Leyton Pennant in the close season. Hayrettin was appointed as Manager in March and went on to lead his new side away from the drop from Division One of the Ryman. Forest Chairman Harry Ramis is the brother of Hakan and has set a five year target for the revamped Club to gain promotion to the Conference and it ties in with plans to improve facilities.
