Career summary at Wycombe: 101 appearances, 46 goals.
What we think: If you describe Devine's £200,000 move to Wycombe in March 1999 as a 'good deal' it would be one of the biggest understatements going. Since scoring on his debut while on loan from Barnet, Devine bagged 35 goals in first 60 apps. The ex-Millwall trainee has followed an unusual path on his route to Adams Park. After a spell in Greece, he joined Barnet in October 1995 but an alledged fall-out with Bees Manager John Still brought an end to his future at Underhill. It was former Barnet coach, Terry Gibson, who highlighted the availability of Devine, allowing Wycombe fans to witness at first hand his remarkable goalscoring instincts. Devine is one of those players that people describe as 'doing nothing', only to later start eating their words when he's hit the back of the net once again.
Devine is now the all-time record Football League goalscorer at Wycombe, ironically nudging ahead of Keith Scott, the player he replaced at Adams Park after 'Scottys' £250,000 move to Reading - did we mention 'good deal'!!? Sadly missed the entire 2000/2001 season through a mystery knee injury but eventually returned midway through the 2001/2002 season and finished the season off with 5 goals in 20 appearances. Hit the net a half a dozen times during the earlier part of the 2002/2003 season but appeared to be out of favour with boss Lawrie Sanchez, leading to rumours of a possible transfer which culminated in a move to Exeter City in December 2002.
