EASY WIN
PROMPTS SINGALONG
(Thursday 6th July 2000) Eik Tønsberg (Norway) 0 Wycombe 3 reporting for Chairboys on the Net in Norway Allan Aasterud Wycombe's Youth Team Manager, Gary Goodchild, said after the 3-0 victory over Eik "I think it was a revenge after the Moss-game where we should have done better. Now we looked more comfortable with the ball, and the rest made us good" He was happy to see Ian Simpemba back on the pitch, and gave him credit for two goals and lots of hard work. "Ian did well in midfield today. We missed him so much against Moss and I'm sure the result would have been different with his presence on the pitch" Goodchild said. "We showed no signs of nervousness or psychological pressure out there. We kept the ball between us, and created several good chances. Ian's goal gave us confidence, and after the sending-off, we were in total control" added Goodchild. "We are trying and that's good. If you don't try, you won't make it!" He knows that tougher opponents are waiting on Saturday, that's why he told the players to keep their feet on the ground. "There are better teams than Eik in our group, but tomorrow (Friday) we have a day off football. We'll go for a swim and think of something else other than football for the next 24 hours". Thursday night is normally a good day out for young people in Norway. Gary Goodchild, the staff and the players should take part in it, by singing karaoke! "We will go to a karaoke-bar which is situated just around the corner from our hotel. I know the age-limit for going to a pub in Norway is 18 years old due to the alcohol restrictions, so we might get a problem there. Ha, ha! I'll come up with something, because I'm dying to see the youngest players in the squad singing karaoke in a Norwegian pub" he laughed.
