YOUTH
TEAM JET OFF
(Friday 30th June 2000) ![]() The Norwegian tournament will kick-start the new season for Wycombe's Youth set-up as they welcome in five new first year scholars. Having won the Southern Merit Division One of The Football League Youth Alliance last season, the team will be hoping to qualify for the Premier Merit Division in 2000/2001. The new signings are local Wycombe lad Lewis Cook who is naturally left footed and can play in either midfield or up front. Johnny Dixon, a striker from Windsor, whose lethal finishing last season saw him finish second highest scorer with ten goals. Jack Smillie is the son of former Wycombe Manager Neil and is a right footed player who can play at full back or in midfield. Pat Lynott originates from Denham and is another left footer whose specialist position is midfield. All four of these youngsters have already played for Wycombe as schoolboys having progresed through Wycombe's Centre of Excellence. The one exception is Feltham born Ronnie Girvan. He was released by Chelsea last season and is described by Youth Team boss Gary Goodchild as "a real find". Girvan played two games for Wycombe's Youth Team on trial last season at left back. Youth Team regulars Ben Townsend and Roger Johnson will both be making the trip to Norway having made their Football League debuts in the final game of last season at Cambridge.
