Background: A great prospect who was snapped up by Wycombe following Barnet's relegation to the Conference in May 2001. A former West Ham trainee who transfered to Shrewsbury for £70,000 in February 1996 before moving onto Barnet on a free. Has the unfortunate record of featuring in unsuccessful relegation battles with Shrewsbury, Plymouth and Barnet before the same fate with Wycombe at the end of the 2003/4 season.
Wycombe career: A stylish player whose talents were plain to see. Appeared in all of Wycombe's League games in 2001/2 and may have only scored six goals in all competitions but three of those were pure quality and his numerous assists were also vital. Sadly the 2002/2 season saw him relegated to the bench on many occassions, especially away from home. Many fans felt he was under used and it could have been no coincidence that Wycombe's results suffered as a consequence. Returned regularly to the starting line-up in 2003/4 and had scored seven times before the New Year. Relegation to Division Three was the end of the road for Currie at Wycombe as he became a victim of Tony Adams' mass clear-out and wage cutting exercise. He departed by mutual consent on 10th May 2004 and commented "My contract has come to an end. I did have an option that the club could not afford to take up and we agreed to part by mutual consent. It was very difficult saying goodbye to the lads and I will miss everyone especially the fans who have been brilliant to me. I have had three very enjoyable years here and I hope that one day I will be able to return to the club again in some capacity or other. I’m really unhappy that my last season with the club has ended in relegation. It wasn’t the way I wanted it to end. I feel I can play in Division One. I feel fit and strong. I know I’ve got the same old problem I have had since I was one, in that I’m too slow, but I think I have the skills to make up for that”
