Background: The 6'1" Aussie was signed by Lawrie Sanchez after the Wycombe Manager failed to agree the wage demands of Ian Feuer who played one game for Wycombe pre-season July 2002. Sanchez wanted cover for Martin Taylor after Wanderers' first choice 'keeper missed all of pre-season through injury. The situation was further complicated by the fact that the Wycombe boss had loaned out Reserve Team 'keeper Mark Osborn on a season long deal to Farnborough Town.
Talia agreed his move to Wycombe after training pre-season with Bristol City but believing he had more chance of First Team football at Adams Park. Sanchez told the Bucks Free Press at the time of the signing "I'm pleased to get Frank in. We've now got an experienced keeper who can cover if something goes wrong with Martin."
Talia's chance came after Taylor developed a back problem and he continued in goal after Taylor gashed his knee at the Wanderers' training ground. Despite conceeding a number of goals during his few appearances, he looked steady enough to earn a longer contract which he duely gained in February 2003. Dropped a few times under Tony Adams but regained the first choice 'keeper status during 2004/5, culminating in John Gorman awarding him an extended contract.
