City opened the scoring six minutes before the break when former Wanderer Mickey Bell fired in a 20 yard effort that gave Talia no chance. Scott Murray added a second on 52 minutes and City Man of the Match Christian Roberts completed Wycombe's misery on 72 minutes. Talia actually trained with City during the close season but opted to move to Wycombe because he thought he had more chance of First Team football. The Australian could hardly be blamed for any of City's goals and it was the defence in front of him that many will point the finger of blame at. City's opening goal came out of nothing with Bell finally striking a sweet 20 yard drive past Talia as the ball broke loose on the edge of the box after the Wycombe defence failed to clear their lines. Before then Wycombe's best effort had come in the 34th minute when Sean Devine scrapped the post with a shot following good work from Steve Brown and Craig Faulconbridge. Half-time Bristol City 1 Wycombe 0 Having won on the two previous visits, Wycombe's task to complete a hat-trick was knocked out of sight in the 52nd minute when Christian Roberts got free from Rogers and his delivery from the left flank saw Scott Murray connect and double City's lead. Keith Ryan produced a rare shot on target for Wycombe almost straight from the re-start but Phillips tipped the ball over in the City goal. Andy Rammell was introduced for the first time this season on 62 minutes and it prompted a small spell of pressure for Wycombe, culminating in Faulconbridge forcing Phillips to stretch after Vinnicombe had delivered from the left. Wycombe's defeat was completed in the 72nd minute when Lee Peacock set-up Murray who unselfishly nipped the ball across from the left for Roberts to tap into the open goal. Wanderers had a late rally with Rammell blasting over from a dozen yards and fellow substitute Richard Harris prompted Phillips into another brave save well into injury time. But Wycombe were always well short of their opponents and there will be plenty of thinking to do ahead of the Holiday Monday game against QPR. Final Score Bristol City 3 Wycombe 0
