The match finished 3-0 in the Blues favour although it was really closer than the scoreline suggests. For the opposition, who are only able to get together for matches, the fixture provided a good opportunity to work on a few things in preparation for next year's Disability Games in Melbourne. Youth Team: The U12 'A' team won their first trophies of the season on Saturday 16th August, winning the U12 tournament run by Wycombe Wanderers Ladies FC. After reaching semi-finals in three girls competitions over the summer, the team were thrilled to be going home with Winners' trophies after a 1-0 victory over Chesham & Prestwood in the final. Julia Blackstock scored the only goal with an excellent individual effort in the second half after good distribution from the back saw a breakaway down the left. Coach Graham Malcolm, who also coaches the Ladies first team, was full of praise for the whole team: Katie Hudson, captain, Sian Pill, Charlie Clarke, Mollie Laverty, Vicky Smyth, Kirsty Gladwin and Julia Blackstock. Alan Evans, of Marlow Coaches has watched Wycombe Wanderers for many years and having seen the Ladies’ teams play a few times last season, was keen to support the dedication of the players and coaches. Prestwood Motors has recently relocated their garage; director Lee Embury is keen that the business continues to play an active part in the local community and has offered to underwrite some of the uncertainties of our continual development. These two businesses have pledged a total of £750 a year for the next 5 years, together with offers to help out with any special projects if they can. This provides us with a platform to plan for the future rather than continue to try to respond on the spur of the moment, for which we are very grateful.
