Bracknell v Wycombe Wanderers - League Sunday 2nd May 2004 Three goals in the last 15 minutes saw Blues grab a point on the last day of the season as Wycombe came back from 3-0 to earn a draw that gives us 20 points, from 20 games. Wanderers were away at Bracknell and took too long to get going. Some early mistakes allowed balls to bounce into no-man's land between our midfield and defence, and the home side took full advantage scoring two early goals. Blues passed the ball around a bit but without looking particularly dangerous. Tina Nutt combined well with Jodie Taylor and Player of the Match "Freddie" to keep possession and move the ball down the right. Su Oakley had a couple of half chances but couldn't place her shots wide of the keeper and on the half hour Bracknell made it three, scoring from close range after the ball was fumbled at the near post. When the result looked clear, Blues began to play more, Jane Graddon, Debbie Richards and Raff Valentino all providing openings for Oakley. Bracknell always looked likely to add another goal in the second half, but a combination of persistent defending and a bit of luck maintained a second half clean-sheet and with 20 minutes to go the game sprang into life. Oakley got on the end of a couple of passes through the midfield, cut inside and beat the keeper to make it 3-1. Manager Graham Malcolm switched Leah Asante to the right and brought Sophy Bowden into midfield; Asante scored the second getting on the end of Oakley's cross from the left. Bracknell were wobbling and Wycombe could see a point. Richards had a couple of shots as the ball was played across the face of goal. Oakley went close again and with a corner in the last couple of minutes Blues threw everyone forward. Valentino's corner was cleared but she got it back and put in another cross. Oakey cut the ball back in from the touch line, it clipped Valentino's heel and Marion Lyon arrived late to take the ball on the edge of the area. As she picked out her shot, the Bracknell defence panicked and swept her feet away. The referee pointed to the spot and Oakley placed her penalty to make it 3-3 with the seconds ticking away.
