Wycombe Wanderers v Heelands Rangers - League Sunday 18th April 2004 The Blues battled against dreadful weather conditions and a water logged pitch but despite playing well they were unable to score and went down 2-0 to Heelands Rangers in the final League game of the 2003-4 season. There was 50-50 possession in the first half, with both keepers making good saves. The Wycombe defence did a good job holding the back line to put Heelands attackers offside on many occasions but Heelands took the lead half way through the first half. Wycombe dominated in the second half but with Watters’ penalty being saved we were unable to equalise. Heelands scored their second towards the end of the match and yet again despite a surplus of opportunities Wycombe failed to score a goal. Man of the match was awarded to Karen ‘Slats’ Slatter who was, in the opinion of the Heelands manager, the best player on the field! Everyone played good football but the likelihood of the ball finding the back of the net was similar to that of finding a blade of grass on the mud bath that was the pitch! Another disappointing result, towards the end of a disappointing season.
