SANCH
ON IRISH TRIP
(Monday 30th July 2001) Lawrie Sanchez will step up his search for a goalscorer and a central defender following The Wanderers two game set-back in Ireland. After defeats to Shelbourne and Bohemian Sanchez was quoted on the Official Wycombe website as saying "It was disappointing to lose both games but we were up against the very best in Ireland. Long gone are the days when English teams come over and beat them out of sight. We had two key front men missing in Andy Rammell and Jocky McSporran and it showed in both games. In fact it highlighted what we already knew, we need a goalscorer and a central defender" Those targets include Bohemian central defender Shaun Maher, while the chase for Northampton striker Jamie Forrester is expected to reach a head this week. Forrester has been thinking over an offer from Wycombe and with Sanchez now back in the country, it will be make your mind up time for The Cobblers star. However, reports are already coming in that Forrester has rejected Wycombe's offer and Sanchez will have to look elsewhere to help solve his striking problems. It's understood that Wycombe are still keeping tabs on Mansfield striker Chris Greenacre. The 23 year old finished top scorer for The Stags in 2000/2001 with 19 League goals and is being touted for a move to higher division club.
