WYCOMBE EYE BOHS DEFENDER
(Monday 30th July 2001)

Shaun Maher - picture Paul Lewis Lawrie Sanchez is chasing Bohemian centre-back Shaun Maher. The 23 year old was in The Bohs side that beat Wycombe 2-1 at Dalymount Park during The Wanderers jaunt in Dublin and talks are expected to open this week.

Sanchez has been keeping an eye on the 6'2" defender for a while and travelled to Dublin earlier in the close season to watch the player who had a brief spell under Kevin Keegan at Fulham.

Dublin born Maher, who originally signed for Bohemian in July 1996, moved to Fulham in December 1997 but he made just two First Team appearances before returning to The Bohs in September 1998. Ironically one of those appearances was against Wycombe in January 1998 when Fulham ran out 3-1 winners in an AutoWindscreens game at Craven Cottage.
