Background:
Wanderers announced an 9th close-season at around 5pm on Thursday 1st August 2019 with the news that striker Josh Parker had signed a two-year deal. The 28-year-old is a former schoolboy player for Wanderers but started his professional career in the Youth set-up at Queens Park Rangers. He played one game on loan for Wanderers during the 2010/11 season while at QPR – coming on as substitute in the 3-1 home defeat to Torquay United in November 2010.

Having made just five League appearances for QPR, his career took him to spells with Oldham Athletic and Oxford United before he played overseas for Domzale in Slovian and then Red Star Belgrade in Serbia. He returned to the UK on a permanent basis to spend three seasons with Gillingham. During League One season 2017/18 he scored 12 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions. He also scored against Wanderers in the League meeting at Priestfield in the December 2018 2-2 draw.

In January 2019 he joined Charlton Athletic on transfer deadline day on a six-month contract – making 10 appearances before the end of the season but failing to find the net. He played three times for Wanderers during the pre-season games – scoring in the home friendly against Brentford on Saturday 20th July 2019.

Commenting at the time of his move to Adams Park, Wanderers Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “Josh is a very established player at this level and he gives another exciting dimension in attack. We want to score more goals this season and be able to vary the way we play, and I believe Josh will fit really well into the squad in terms of his ability and character.I’ve known Josh since his days at QPR when he was a teenager, and followed his career closely, and I’m really pleased to bring him to the club.”

He was allocated No.27 in the Wanderers squad and made his first appearance since signing a permament deal at Adams Park, when he was named in the starting XI that lost on spot-kicks to Reading in the First Round of the League Cup at Adams Park on 13 August 2019.

Netted his first Wanderers goal in the Football League Trophy tie at Milton Keynes on 12th November 2019 but failed to break into the Wycombe First Team on a regular basis for the remainder of the season. Following promotion to the Championship, made three substitute appearances for Wanderers before a free transfer to then 'League One' side Burton Albion on 15th January 2021.
