ADAMS PARK DEBATE >>>
(Friday 1st August 2003) ![]() The press release stated that "This joint initiative has been made possible following additional support from Causeway." Club Chairman Ivor Beeks added in the press release "In view of the sensitivities associated with the stadium naming rights deal, this has been a very good collaborative exercise between the Club and Causeway. We had offered for sale naming rights to the Woodlands Stand anyway and this is an excellent result in many ways." The Club had originally advertised the naming rights of the Woodlands Stand for £25,000 per season but it's understood there will be no significant cash injection attached to this deal, although Causeway will assist the club in the funding of the new signage for the stand. Phil Brown, CEO at Causeway commented, "We were stirred by the strength of feeling that the fans have shown for the legacy of Frank Adams, and felt it was important to find a way of recognising this. The club has also shown great commitment to the memory of Frank Adams by embracing this initiative". Causeway originally turned down the option to buy the naming rights for the Woodlands Stand and instead pushed for a deal that included the highly controversial move to drop the Adams Park name. With the club and sponsor again remaining tight lipped on any specific financial details attached to the deal, this latest move has been greeted with further scepticism by some Wycombe followers who have passed it off as as a cheap sop. ![]() Click here to read all the latest Wycombe news |
