What we think: Having lost one non-League legend Noel Ashford at the start of the 1987/88 season, the arrival of Nicky Evans in March 1989 gave Wycombe fans the pleasure of watching yet another genius at work. Signed by Jim Kelman for a non-League record fee of £35,000, he was already well known to Wycombe fans - in September 1987 he scored four times for Barnet against Wycombe in the infamous 7-0 reverse at Loakes Park - Wycombe's record home defeat. His time at Wycombe though was littered with spells out due to a knee injury, cutting his total apps to less than 50 in his 22 month spell with The Chairboys. In January 1991, Martin O'Neill fined Evans for not turning up for a training session and when Evans put in a transfer request, Barnet Manager Barry Fry gladly took the opportunity to take him back to his beloved Barnet for a £28,750 fee. Retired in 1994 and was last heard of selling Land Rovers in Bedford. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
