Background: A former trainee with Chelsea who made his debut for The Blues on 22 January 1994 aged in their Premier League meeting with Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. Went on to clock up more than 100 senior appearances for Chelsea and was a member of the sides than won the League Cup and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1998. Moved to Leeds United in June 1999 for a £4.5 million fee but struggled to hold down a First Team spot - making 57 League appearances over the course of six seasons. Made a permanent move to Stoke City in March 2005 and was a regular there until a move to then Premier League Reading for a fee believed to be £800,000. Spent two seasons with the Royals before Peter Taylor picked him up on a free in July 2009 - signing a two year deal and being appointed Club Captain. However, after 19 appearances for Wanderers, he was released by 'mutual consent' on 1 February 2010.
