MARK PHILO TRIBUTES
WANDERERS FANS

(First published 20th January 2006)
Tributes left at Adams Park for Mark More written tributes left by Wycombe supporters in memory of Mark Philo who tragically died on 14th January 2006.

Popped down to the ground first thing this morning (Sunday 15th January). Very emotional. Massive respect to Sergio for leaving his MOTM award there from yesterdays game. A true mark of respect!! Laid my scalf and had a chat with a few people. Still in total shock. Thanks for the memories Mark. I remember your full league debut, terrorising defences with Nathan Tyson. I believe Tony Adams was a very keen admirer, along with the Wycombe faithful. I fully believed you were going to be one of the best young players outside the premiership once injuries had been sorted. Georgey_Boy

He showed us glimpses of the player he would have become. I remember the Brentford and Yeovil games well, but his performance against Portsmouth was so, so exhilarating. An absolute class act. After relegation and many years of slow decline at the club, I was feeling very disillusioned with the club and football generally. This one performance was such a breath of fresh air it, for me, was the start of everything good that is happening at the club now. And for that I thank you Mark. You would've become one of Wycombe's greatest talents in our 120 year history I believe. A name interwoven into the fabric of our club. Of course you will never be forgotten by the fans and football club - we were graced by your 6 years here. I hope wherever you are, you are safe. Rest in Peace Mark. Quarterman

I just want to send my deepest sympathies to Mark Philo's family and to say that in my opinion Mark was one of the most promising youngsters at Wycombe Wanderers. I was lucky enough to have met him and trained with him at Wycombe's training ground with Sergio the day Sergio signed, and he was a quality player, with a passion for football and will be missed greatly. Rest In Peace Mark Hubby

Mark, as we all know, was one of the hottest prospects Wycombe have had in a long time. Pacey, skillful and great attitude, he had it all. With a bit more luck he would have established himself in the starting XI 2 seasons ago, and would be one of the stars of the team today. I was also fortunate enough to meet Mark a few times, including the club Christmas party where he was his usual smiley, cheerful self. He happily posed for photos with anyone, and signed autographs for kids at matches. He will be sorely missed, and my deepest sympathies go to his family, friends, and team-mates. Matt

All I can think about is this tragic loss. It really is so sad to have such a young life with such a bright future ahead ended so suddenly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Mark Philo RIP - gone but never to be forgotten. Bluegirl

Everyone who supports Wycombe have been deeply shocked following the news of Mark Philo. He was great player and had a great career ahead of him I'm sure. I know for a fact that all the guys from holmer green senior school and others will miss him loads. Craig Tackley

We'd like to pass on our sincere condolences to all those affected by the passing of a talented footballer, and a close friend of our "adoptive son" Sergio Torres. His infectious smile and lust for life will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone connected with Wycombe Wanderers from Steve Hayes, Ivor Beeks and John Gorman to all the players and backroom staff. The club has handled the tragic loss with great dignity, and I am certain that his memory will be honoured in an exemplary manner. Rest in Peace Mark. John and Mimi Gray

Not only have Wycombe lost a truely great young talent but the whole of football has lost a great prospect for the future. Mark, the gap left behind here at Wycombe will never be filled, not by anyone. You'll always be a hero at Adams Park no matter what. The news still hasn't sunk in yet, its come as such a shock. Adam

Having been down to the ground today it has proved how much Mark meant to so many people. He was a genuine talent and I am deeply saddened to think that we will never witness his full potential. My thoughts are with Mark's family, friends and the staff and players of WWFC. Mark you will be missed, but never forgotten. Bluetoon

A gifted player with real promise. It's such a shame Mark's opportunity to shine has been taken away, but in his short life he was able to achieve what many others can only dream of. Karen Chapman

Mark Philo achieved a goal that many strive for, becoming a professional footballer, but few manage. Football is of course only one facet of a player's life, but he will leave strong memories of performances such as those at Griffin Park and Huish Park. The loss of both his and the other crash victim's lives is a great tragedy. P-Bo

God Bless x Sis YY
A great talent seen but not forgotten Al the pål

My heart sank when i heard the news, whenever i saw him, on or off the pitch he was always smiling. a genuinely nice bloke for someone so young, and that's what is so tragic. on the pitch, he always looked a threat on the ball and made things happen. i just wish he could have played more, cause he loved the club and the club loved him. a talent no doubt, he will be missed terribly by all that knew him. i hope a fitting tribute can be arranged and something at the ground to remember him by, because he was wycombe through and through. a huge loss to the game of football and my thoughts ever since i heard the news have been with his family and those who were close to him. Rest in peace Mark rich
