MARK PHILO TRIBUTES
WANDERERS FANS

(First published 24th January 2006)
Tributes left at Adams Park for Mark More written tributes left by Wycombe supporters in memory of Mark Philo who tragically died on 14th January 2006.

I feel lucky having been able to watch Mark play in the youth team, the reserve team and on far too few occasions in the Wycombe first team. I never tired of telling anyone who'd listen what sort of player he was, and how much I enjoyed watching him play and admired his ability. My sympathy to his family. Rest in peace Mark micky saucepan

Retire his number, put a statue up and someone with some money please rename the ground Adams and Marks Park. Still can't believe your gone, i wish you only had a bit more luck in life, keep smiling mate like you always did. bluemoon16

Like many of you I'm finding it difficult to put feelings into words. Part of the problem is the fact that we had so few opportunities to see the talent this young player clearly possessed. This, due to long periods when he was unable to play through injury - even for a player at the start of what I'm sure would have been a successful career in professional football. My most recent memory is of travelling to the Walsall away game just before Christmas. This turned out to be the final opportunity for me to see Mark appear for the club, though it is scant consolation that I was privileged to see him play on that occasion. Others knew him better than I, but even as a bystander to conversations between Mark and those I knew, the passion and love he held for Wycombe Wanderers was clear. The reaction on this and other messageboards, not to mention the Book of Remembrance and the tributes at the ground, only goes to emphasis the deep regard with which he was clearly held by everyone involved with the club - players, managerial staff, and supporters. Words are immaterial, but this is an opportunity for me to add my comments to those already made, and to pass on my sentiments to Mark's family and friends. Mark, you will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace. Marcus Wood

Such sad news, what an incredible amount of peoples hearts one young man has touched, a credit to his family and to all at the club, both of whom my deepest sympathies and thoughts go to. RIP Mark BlueRich(USA)

For Mark - Bless you for all you gave to everyone with whom you came into contact. Thank you for making me smile when I met you. Thank you for the friendship you gave to people and for the the person you were. Those memories will stay for ever. We will miss you so much. My prayers and thoughts are with your family, your friends, everyone at Wycombe and all who have been affected in any way by this terrible tragedy. God bless. Hazel

Mark was already a legend at Wycombe without ever really settling into the 1st team due to such bad luck with injury. What we are saw when he did play was a young lad with a raw talent that can't be taught and the potential to go onto become a very good footballer. As many others have already said whenever you saw him he always seemed to have a smile on face despite not being able to play the game all could see he loved. Let's hope we can now go on and win the league this season as a tribute to Mark. At this time my thoughts are with his family, friends and team mates. On the loss of such a likeable and happy person. Speedy

R.I.P Mark Philo. What a waste of a young life and a great wanderers footballing prospect, probably would have become a wycombe legend, now already is. Will be sorely missed by all fans of wwfc. Lets win the title for Mark. Up the blues. bowdy

Rest in peace and may eternal light shine upon you. God Bless. Dubblue

Mark could have eclipsed the achievements of any player who had previously pulled on the famous light and dark blue quarters of Wycombe Wanderers. He had such a vast amount of talent, and just as importantly, a fantastic attitude on the game. It is a tragedy in itself that his footballing talents, which could make so many thousands of people so happy, will never be truly fulfilled. But much worse is the fact his family, friends and team-mates will not see him as a man any longer in this life. And also for all the other people who would've been lucky enough to meet and love him in the future. You will never be forgotten by those people who loved you Mark, but you will also never be forgotten by all the Wycombe Wanderers fans who admired your talent, your attitude, and your love for football. You will be part of OUR club as long as our memories of you live on. Rest in Peace mate. Zema

For such a young man, Mark managed to touch so many of our lives in so many different ways, yet the one consistent in all of these messages was that he was always smiling and always happy, even in the hard times when he was battling with his injuries. The greatest tragedy of all is that his family and friends and all connected with our great club will never know just how much Mark might have achieved in his career. But everyone seems to be in agreement that the world was his oyster. I'll be at Barnet on Saturday, wearing his name, number and '1984-2006' on the back of my shirt... it's only a small gesture of my appreciation, but every time I get the shirt out the cupboard, I want to be reminded of the example that he set. A smile goes a long way, and the ability to smile through all of the difficult times he faced was what set Mark apart as a true legend. Sorely missed, never forgotten. R.I.P. Mark. Ben

I was at the Barcelona game this weekend when we heard the news, everyone in our party and those sitting near us were completley stunned, english and spanish. A great talent and prospect. RIP Mark Dickie T

As a lifelong WWFC fan, I, like everyone else, was devastated to hear the news about Mark. A bright energetic skillful footballer with a fantastic attitude, that had been denied his best years and I totally agree with John Gorman's comments on his smile. It will be how I will best remember him. My sincere best wishes and thoughts go to all of Mark's family, friends, wwfc and all that ever met or knew him.

Our thoughts are with Marks family, friends, team mates and the management and staff at WWFC at this very sad time. It is such a tragedy that a young life was lost before he could fully achieve his potential, but he left a glimpse of what might have been. We can only hope that the depth of feeling being shown by Chairboys supporters offers some comfort to his loved ones at this extremely difficult time. Colin & Gary Marshall
