FA CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW
FA Cup Wycombe have been drawn away to Conference side Hayes in the First Round of the 2001/2002 FA Cup. The tie has since been chosen for live coverage on SKY TV on Friday 16th November with an 8pm kick-off. Both club's will rake in £100,000 as a result of the TV money. The winners will also pick-up £20,000 as part of the sponsorship deals available this season.
Wycombe have played Hayes regularly in the Isthmian League but this is the first meeting in the FA Cup since 1964 when The Wanderers suffered a 7-0 away defeat in a 4th Qualifying Round tie. However, the most famous meeting between the two sides came back in 1931 at Highbury when Wanderers ran out 1-0 winners in the final of Amateur Cup.
The Middlesex side gained promotion to the Conference by winning the Isthmian League in season 1995/96 with the best season since coming in 1998/99 when they finished in third place. They are currently lying 17th in the Conference but have a good FA Cup pedigree, including victories over Fulham and Cardiff City in the 1990's. The reach this stage they registered a very impressive 3-1 home victory over Yeovil Town in the 4th Qualifying Round, Ian Hodges grabbing all three goals for the home side. The attendance was 1,182
Hayes' Church Road ground has a capacity of around 4,000 and this tie has been made all ticket due to previous experiences in high profile games at this ground. Wycombe have been allocated 1,500 terrace tickets and 50 seats.
