TOUGH START FOR WYCOMBE
(Thursday 21st June 2001)
Wrexham
Wycombe have been dealt a tough opening to the 2001/2002 Division Two campaign, taking on relegated Queens Park Rangers and Huddersfield plus promoted Cardiff City, Blackpool and Chesterfield within the opening five weeks of the season.

Wanderers start out at Ninian Park, Cardiff on Saturday 11th August but are at home the following weekend to Wrexham. Commenting on the trip to Cardiff, Lawrie Sanchez said "It is not the opening-day fixture we wanted but we've got to play everyone sometime and it can sometimes be better to face these teams right at the start before they have had a chance to get into their stride."

The trip to newly promoted Blackpool takes place on Bank Holiday weekend Saturday 25th August. Wycombe have never lost at Bloomfield Road and won there 4-2 on the corresponding Saturday in 1997.

QPR - first ever meeting The first ever competitive game between Wycombe and Queens Park Rangers is due to take place on August Bank Holiday Monday and is sure to draw a near capacity gate to Adams Park. The return at Loftus Road is scheduled for Saturday 29th December.

The fixture computer has dealt Wycombe up midweek trips to Bury (18 Sep), Colchester (23 Oct), Chesterfield (26 Dec), Cambridge (23 Jan) and Brighton (5 Mar).

The season winds up early this due to the World Cup Finals - the final League game being the trip to The County Ground to play Swindon Town on Saturday 20th April.
