A member of The Shots squad that won promotion to the Football League in the 2007/8 season but injury kept him out of the start of the following season. Eventually made his Football League debut in February 2009 as The Shots lost 2-1 to Exeter City. Waddock returned to his former club in the summer of 2010 to sign the then 22 year old on a two year deal. A fee was eventially set by tribunial of £25,000 plus a 20% sell-on clause of any profit should Wanderers sell the player. His consistent performances during his debut season at Adams Park, where he was part of Wanderers promotion winning squad, earned him a one year extension to his contract. Winfield commented at the time, "I've enjoyed my football this season more than any other time in my career and I feel privileged to be given a further opportunity to kick on."
