Background: Officially joined Wycombe in December 2008 following his release from Derby County. A former trainee with Derby who also gained England Youth caps but failed to make the First Team at Pride Park. Wycombe Manager Peter Taylor commented at the time of the signing, "After Matt was released by Derby, he started to train with us and he played a couple of reserve games. I wanted him to come on board so we can have a further look at him between now and the end the season." However, he failed to make any First Team appearances and was loaned out to Notts County towards the end of the 2008/9 campaign and then released in May 2009.
