Background: Former trainee with Cambridge United who dropped down to non-League football before moving to Brighton in the summer of 2005 for an £8,000 fee from Braintree Town. Revell joined Southend United in a £150,000 deal from Brighton in January 2008 and went on to score 4 goals in 40 League appearances for United but a broken leg suffered in January 2009 hampered his progress. He spent the early part of the 2009/10 season on loan to Swindon Town - scoring twice in 10 games before returning to Roots Hall where in January 2010 he apparently agreed to be released from his contract to enable a free transfer to Wycombe. However, the deal hit a snag when the two Clubs were made aware of a UEFA ruling preventing a player from appearing for more than two clubs on a permanent or regular loan during any one season. The workaround was for Revell to rejoin Southend and then join Wanderers on an 'Emergency Loan' for the maximum duration of 93 days. Wanderers Manager Gary Waddock was quoted at the time as saying, "I am delighted to get him. I've been tracking him for some while and hopefully he can score the goals we have been missing."
