What we think: When
Steve Hyde made his Wycombe debut at the age of 16 years and 9 months he was the
youngest ever player to appear in a senior game for Wycombe - a record that
stood until Kevin Keen took that honour some 22
years later. Hyde was a massive prospect and attracted the attentions of Crystal
Palace, Fulham and Oxford United before a crippling injury against Wimbledon saw
him advised by the Doctors never to play again. To his credit Steve did give it
a go with Oxford but he never properly recovered from the injury to his knee and
gave up the game. Those who saw him play still rave about what a loss this was.
