Wycombe Wanderers Ladies Football Team 2003-2004 Reserve Team match report Wycombe v Reading Sunday 19th October 2003 In an entertaining game, the Reserves struggled to contain Reading Girls, not helped by the number of injuries picked up and the final score was 6-0 to the Berkshire team. An offside flag was over-ruled to allow the first goal to stand after 15 minutes. Rebecca Hilton replaced Stephanie Dean, who was injured 5 minutes later and Reading Girls doubled their lead on the half hour. Tahli Jenkinson & Loretta Semmons-Doel combined well on the right, but the team weren’t able to create any clear-cut chances. Tracy Sturges made a great save on 37 minutes, but wasn’t able to keep out the visitors next effort set up from a throw. Then on the stroke of half time, a penalty was awarded when the ball bounced up onto an arm and within that final sixty seconds of the first half, the penalty was scored and Claire Burrage was taken to hospital by ambulance after a nasty knee injury which will keep her out of the team for the rest of the season. Alison Barry came on to replace Burrage in the second half, Jenkinson went off injured to be replaced by Sarah New, when Laura McLean and Alison Barry were injured in the last few minutes there was no-one left to replace them. But the damage had already been done, with a fifth goal at the beginning of the half and a sixth near the end. In spite of the score, everyone worked hard, Barry, Jade Harker and Roisin Nellis did all they could and the good work by Blues keeper coach Tracy Sturges was recognised when Reading voted her Player of the match.
