Morris Motors v Wycombe Wanderers - League Cup Semi-Final Sunday 7th March 2004 There was great disappointment for Ladies Reserves side as they went down to Morris Motors in this League Cup Semi-Final tie, especially as the Wycombe had beaten them in all previous league meetings. Wycombe got off to a good start with shots from Jade Harker, 'Twinkle' and Renee Kwantes all going just wide. Morris Motors also had some goal scoring opportunities but Wanderers' keeper Tracy Sturges was able to save. But in the 24th minute Morris Motors took a corner which was headed off the goal line by 'Freddie' only to rebound off the hand of Sturges and over the line for a fortunate opener for the home side. Wycombe kept their heads up and good defending by Tahli Jenkinson, Claire Burrage, Tracey Jani and Freddie - playing at left back in Roisin's absence, prevented further goals. Rebecca Hilton, Renee Kwantes, Twinkle and Jade Harker all had further chances to score but it was not Wycombe's day when in first half stoppage time Morris Motors took a shot from the edge of the area and increased their lead at the break to 2-0. For the second half Tahli Jenkinson was substituted for Laura Coull, who took Laura McLean's place in midfield while Macca dropped back in defence. After 58 minutes Karen Slatter came on for Claire Burrage with Wanderers 'Man of the Match' Amy Watters dropping back to central defence and 'Slats' playing in midfield. Wycombe stepped up the pace and played with greater determination but Morris Motors were not going to be beaten on this occasion The tie concluded in exciting fashion with chances at both ends but Wycombe’s frustration grew as the goals just didn't go in. Ten minutes from time Morris Motors got a third and despite the Wanderers' valiant attempts at a consolation goal it was not to be.
