Wycombe Wanderers Ladies Football Team 2003-2004 Reserve Team match report Milton United v Wycombe Sunday 9th November 2003 The visit into Oxfordshire on Sunday 9th November was a disappointment to Wycombe as the reserves were beaten 2-0 by Milton United. Heavy rain for the first 30 mins made playing conditions difficult, but there were chances at both ends including three corners for Wycombe who probably had most of the possession. On the stroke of half time a ball kicked from half way bounced over the defence, in front of Blues keeper Tracy Sturges and spun over her, just under the bar. There were several chances in the second half after good runs made by Laura McLean and Laura Coull. Excellent defending by Amy Watters and Loretta Semmons-Doel ('Freddie') kept the team in the game, as Jade Harker tried to create something going forward but the home side’s keeper always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. A direct free kick with just 10 minutes to go sealed the victory for Milton United, but was harsh on a Wycombe performance that deserved more. Blues' keeper Tracy Sturges had a solid game standing up well in three 1-on-1 situations and saving another free kick in time added on. Milton named Sarah New ('Titch') as player of the match but we thought 'Freddie' was more deserving of the title as she had worked like a Trojan throughout the match involved in all the action down the right side.
