Wycombe Wanderers Ladies Football Team 2003-2004 Reserve Team match report AFC Newbury v Wycombe - County Cup Second Round Sunday 30th November 2003 The Reserves booked a place in the third round of the County League Cup with a 3-2 victory over AFC Newbury after extra time. Player of the Match, Becca Hilton scored the first and third goals. The home side equalised within minutes to make it 1-1 at half time, Renée Kwantes scored in the second half and again the Newbury no. 9 equalised. With the score 2-2 at 90 minutes half an hour extra time was played and this time there was no equaliser after Hilton put Blues into the lead. Final Score AFC Newbury 2 Wycombe 3 Wycombe v Chesham Sunday 7th December 2003 After recent disappointments in the League, Wanderers Reserves went on to beat local rivals Chesham Reserves 3-1 in this home game on The Rye. A bright start saw two chances in the first five minutes, then in the 9th minute Becca Hilton latched onto the rebound after Chesham's keeper parried Renée Kwantes original shot to put Blues ahead. Both forwards had chances to take advantage of good pressure, but it was midfielder Laura McLean who doubled the lead with a great strike with the outside of her foot that gave the keeper no chance. Fifteen minutes into the second half Chesham pulled one back, again a rebound after Wycombe keeper Tracy Sturges blocked the first shot. Excellent work by Jade Harker, captain Amy Watters and McLean kept the ball in the Chesham half. On 70 minutes a good passing move between Kwantes, Loretta Semmons-Doel (AKA "Freddie") and Hilton created a one-on-one with the keeper, who saved the first shot, and the first rebound but could not keep hold of the ball and Player of the Match, Hilton made it 3-1. Stephanie Dean made her first appearance after injury when she came on in the second half, and Sarah New replaced Kwantes for the last 15 minutes. Tahli Jenkinson, Roisín Nellis and Tracey Jani made sure that the visitors weren't able to benefit from any possession in the Wycombe half. Sturges was able to pick up the only shot in the second half and Laura McLean single handedly held the ball in Chesham's half to make sure there were no last minute panics.
