|BEES IN WITH THE WASPS?
(Tuesday 29th January 2002)
The proposed move to bring London Wasps in as tenants to Adams Park has been met with another twist in the tale with the revelation that Brentford Chairman Ron Noades has tabled a £10m bid to buy Wasps current Loftus Road home. Noades revealed his plans in a meeting with Brentford Independent Association of Supporters (BIAS) on Monday 28th January. Noades said he would fund the purchase of Loftus Road by the £20m sale of Griffin Park and would then have to negotiate who would end up playing there alongside Brentford. Wasps have a ten-year contract with Loftus Road plc but are looking to move to Wycombe because Fulham want to use Loftus Road as a temporary base. That deal looks to be dependant on The Cottagers subsidising Wasps move to Buckinghamshire and add in QPR to the equation and you have a right old mess.
Noades plans to move to Loftus Road will have to taken with a pinch of salt. He attempted to move the Club to Woking but this was opposed by Bees fans and turned down by The Football League. However, it appears that Noades is getting impatient with the situation at Griffin Park. In an earlier statement Noades said "The current position is that I will not be funding the Club beyond the end of this season and it will have to break even if it is to continue in business. My intention is to try to see that it does so as I don't see another benefactor on the horizon."
It's understood that The Rangers Administrators have turned down Noades offer but fans of all the club's involved wait with interest for the latest events to unfold.
