SANCHEZ RULES OUT McGREGOR (Monday 10th September 2001) Lawrie Sanchez has ruled out bringing Nuneaton Borough striker Mark MacGregor to Adams Park. The Wycombe boss told fans at a recent Supporters Forum that he only wants to bring in players that are better then those already here and he didn't rate McGregor in that bracket. With McGregor out of the equation The Bucks Free Press have reported that Sanchez has renewed his interest in Wrexham striker Craig Faulconbridge and was preparing a fresh bid for the 23 year old who has bagged four goals in five appearances for The Robins this season. Sanchez was quoted as saying "We've got an interest in him. He always scores against us. Our centre-halves don't like playing against him. I've asked them which centre-forwards cause them most problems and he is one of them". These stories have since been rubbished by the Welsh club who have also turned down a bid from Oldham Althetic for the Nuneaton born player. The Wrexham Official website stated "Reports are linking reds striker Craig Faulconbridge with a £180,000 move to Wycombe Wanderers. The reports state that the striker impressed choirboys (sic) boss Lawrie Sanchez in the recent match between the two sides. The club are however keen to point out that there is no truth in these rumours." Despite these comments the cash strapped Welsh Club could be keen to want to make a quick profit on a player who joined on a 'free' from Coventry City in the summer of 1999. However, his low strike rate of under a goal every four games could make interested clubs hesitant in taking a gamble. Click here to read all the latest Wycombe news |
