Wanderers
v Liverpool
FA Cup Semi-Final 2001 |
CUP
SNIPPETS - Thursday 5th April 2001
- Lawrie Sanchez paid
a visit to the Nou Camp on Thursday evening to take in the Barcelona v
Liverpool UEFA Cup tie. The Wanderers squad had been in Spain all
week but flew back on Thursday afternoon while Sanchez stopped off to
check out the opposition for Sunday's game.
Liverpool drew the tie 0-0 in a fairly uneventful game.
- Steve Brown's son Maxwell
will be joined by Lawrie Sanchez's son, Jack, as The Wanderers
matchday mascots at Villa Park on Sunday. Maxwell was mascot for the game
at Filbert Street in the Quarter-Final.
- The Club will hold it's
biggest ever Press Day at Adams Park on Friday. More than 70 representatives
from the media will be present including camera crews from Australia, Norway, Holland
and Ireland.
- Two supporters are
offering to add £20,000 to the players pool if they manage to beat
Liverpool at Villa Park. One of the supporters, Steve Hayes, was featured
on Radio Five Live talking about the offer which is in response to the
fixed cup bonuses that the players themselves negotiated at the start of
the season.
- Wycombe Council are
planning a Civic Reception for The Wanderers that will take place
next Thursday (12th April) in the Town centre. The last time a Civic
Reception was held was after the FA Trophy success in 1993.
