"AN EXCITING FUTURE" - BEEKS

The Wycombe Wanderers Board of Directors hope to "transform the culture of the football world by setting a cutting edge example" according to Financial Director Graham Peart. Peart was speaking at the Club's Annual General Meeting on 16th October 2000. Read more >>>

BeeksWith three new Directors appointed in August, the air of change was apparent from Chairman's Ivor Beeks leading speech, where he told the members "We have an exciting future and I pay tribute to the members and supporters for keeping faith. We really do appreciate it and with your help we can and will succeed"

Beeks began his address to members with the news that Manager Lawrie
Sanchez has agreed a new four year deal
, an enthusiastic Beeks saying
"Our choice of Manager has certainly been justified"

With losses of £264,000 during the previous season it's evident that the
Club are trying to tighten their purse strings while trying to initiate
new ideas and projects to help generate funds to enable more spending
power for the Manager.

Beeks added "The approach of improving a little each year within our means suggest the future is bright"

Beeks praised both The Youth Team and Community Scheme set-ups at the
Club and singled them out as vital in the future of the Club. Investments in the new Training Ground at Booker and the Away Stand extension were also cited as crucial in the longer term plans for the Club.

Brian Lee - retiringNew Board members Brian Kane, Rod Tomlin and Derek Vere were formerly adopted onto the Board at the AGM, with long serving Directors Gordon Richards and Brian Lee both retiring their positions. Both Directors had served since the Limited Company was activated in 1986 and presentations were made to both by the Board in recognition of their services to the Club.

Lee's involvement with Wycombe Wanderers stems back to 1968 when he
became the first Manager of the Club. He took the Club through a highly
successful period during the first half of the 1970's and later became
Chairman before vacating the position to Ivor Beeks in 1988. He will remain as an Associate Director of the Club and may be called upon when needed.

However, it was Peart's address that caught the attention of most members.
