HILL GOES TOO

Assistant Manager Richard Hill resigned within 30 minutes of John Gregory being appointed as the new Manager of Villa. Although he hadn't been offered a position with Gregory at Villa, Wycombe Chairman Ivor Beeks refused to confirm to Hill who would be taking charge of Wycombe's next game - at home to Gillingham. Talking to the Bucks Free Press, Hill said "The chairman said a new manager would be looking for his own staff and implied he was swaying towards Neil (Smillie) to take charge on Saturday". Hill indicated that he would have been happy to stay but felt he wasn't wanted. Hill was appointed by Gregory shortly after his own move to Adams Park in October 1996.
