 A young and inexperienced Wanderers Youth side went down 3-1 at Swansea in this Third Round Umbro Isotonic Youth Alliance Cup meeting. Wanderers fielded just two players from the Third Year pool and they struggled to settle in the opening stages allowing Swansea to take the lead on ten minutes when Wanderers got caught in possession in
their own box. However, Wycombe were given a lift on 25 minutes when from
good work on the right by Jamie McClurg, Mark Philo was left free in the box to
shoot into the roof of the net and level the scores.Half-time 1-1 The tie continued to be very scrappy affair on a poor, uneven pitch and Swansea were winning their physical battles. Wycombe fell behind to a superb lob from the Swansea centre forward after he was given too much time to turn. Wycombe tried hard to battle back and both substitutes were used 20 minutes into the second half. However Swansea sealed the match when a long clearance from the goalkeeper caught out the Wanderers defence, leaving the centre forward to score an easy third goal. Final Score Swansea 3 Wycombe 1
