Match report

Wanderers Ladies v Slough XI
Sunday 10th August 2003

Unfortunately Aylesbury United had to pull out of the friendly originally arranged for this date but a hasty re-arrangement brought a Slough team over to Flackwell Heath's Wilk's Park. The side actually included players from Brook House, Chelsea and Chesham who were able to knock six goals past the home team without breaking into a sweat - not bad considering the weather!

In spite of the obvious gulf between the sides it was a useful excersise with the first league game only a fortnight away. Karyn Atkinson played half the game and showed she was recovering well after injuries at the end of last season and Jane Graddon and Debbie Richards put in their best pre-season performances in the centre of midfield. With five new players joining the first team squad over the summer these matches are important for coach/manager Graham Malcolm as he tries to work out the best combinations and develop a good understanding between all the players. The next match, scheduled for Thursday 21st August could see another change-around, with some players in new positions and hopefully some progress in “reading the game“.

Final Score Wycombe 0 Slough XI 6
