Dave Carroll joined Rammell on the comeback trail and both players came through their test before being substituted midway through the second-half. The game itself, played on a boggy Adams Park surface, was a hard fought battle with all five goals coming in an action packed first-half. There were also six bookings - five of them going to Wycombe and on the eve of transfer deadline day the crowd was littered with scouts plus the familiar faces of players agent Eric Hall and former Wycombe defender Stuart Cash (now at Aldershot). Rammell's strike came from Carroll's right wing cross and he needed just one touch before driving the ball past Scott Howie in The Royals goal. The visitors equalised on 19 minutes when Nicky Shorey's pass found Andy Gurney who fired past Mark Osborn. Leeyon Phelan restored Wycombe's lead on 29 minutes when he caught Chris Casper in possession on the edge of The Royals box - the ex-Youth Teamer cleverly lobbing the ball over Howie. The lead last just three minutes when Nicky Forster's cross from the right bye-line was headed home at the near post by ex-Wanderer Lee Hodges. The Royals comeback was completed four minutes before the break when Alan Beeton took away Forster's legs with a rash tackle that earned a booking. Forster picked himself up to convert the spot-kick. The Royals went on to dominate the second-half with Casper and Gurney going closest to extending the winning margin. Meanwhile Wycombe managed to pick up four yellow cards in final eleven minutes. Final Score Wycombe 2 Reading 3
