Wycombe's most 'senior' players on the night were 22 year old's Martyn Lee and Gavin Holligan while 19 year old triallist John Cogger was included for the first time in the right back position although he was delayed in traffic and didn't start the match. Cogger is being released by the Manchester United Academy at the end of the season but with Lawrie Sanchez and Assistant Terry Gibson looking on from the touchline he struggled to make an impact after replacing Jack Smillie in the 23rd minute. After a fairly even opening Rangers started their rout on 18 minutes when David Booles low shot from the left wing was spilled by Steve Williams in the Wycombe goal and veteran Brett Angell tapped in from close range. Rangers added a second on 31 minutes later when an Oliver Burgess free-kick from the left saw Williams exposed again and Leroy Griffiths smashed home at the far post. There was an injury set-back for Wanderers on 34 minutes when 2nd year Scholar John-Paul Kelly was carried off with ankle problem and he left the ground shortly afterwards on crutches for more treatment. Kelly was replaced by recent Youth Team signing Jamie McClurg. After Richard Pacquette has blasted wide for Rangers, Wycombe had their best spell of the game in the minutes leading up to the break. Two corners in quick succession by Lee from the right both caused problems for the home defence and from the second Ian Simpemba could have scored but his shot was hit straight at Nick Culkin in the R's goal. The second half was more or less one way traffic again. Williams did well to tip around Danny Murphy free-kick on 61 minutes but from the resulting Booles corner Marcus Bean headed home as Wanderers failed to defend the near post. On 64 minutes it was 4-0 when Murphy jumped Cogger's tackle down the Rangers left before striking home from the angle past Williams. Wanderers then had a very brief spell of pressure where Holligan showed some nice touches but none of the Wycombe forwards ever looked like scoring. Rangers sealed their 5-0 victory in the final minute when Wycombe were exposed again down the left flank and Booles was able to fire past Williams from corner of the penalty area. One of the few positives to come from the game was another excellent display in the centre of defence by Ian Simpemba. He has come on leaps and bounds since his return from a loan spell at Woking and he will be hoping for a chance in the First Team before the end of the season. Final Score QPR 5 Wycombe 0
