A
Wanderers Reserve team that included seven Youth Team regulars were swamped by a
multi-national and highly experienced Fulham side at Motspur Park. Two years ago
The Cottagers knocked nine goals past Wycombe in the Combination and it was no surprise
it was one way traffic again.
Fulham included in their line-up familiar names such as Scottish International John Collins,
former Man City and Everton defender Terry
Phelan, ex-Crewe and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Wayne Collins, Welsh
International Alan Neilson and £2m signing from Bristol Rovers Barry Hayles.
It was recent signing Andrejs Stolcers who opened the scoring for Fulham on 14 minutes and they
continued the onslaught on The Chairboys with further goals through Danish
striker Peter Møller
after 20 minutes and a 33rd minute free-kick from Nicolas Sahnoun (currently on
loan from Bordeaux).
To Wycombe's credit they did manage to create a couple of chances. Mo Harkin saw
a shot pushed around the post on the stroke of half-time and the same player went close again in
the second-half with Marc Leach unable to convert the rebound.
Møller completed his hat-trick with goals on 46 and 57 minutes before John
Collins was substituted to relief the torment on the Wycombe defence.
Luke Cornwall completed The Valentines Day massacre in the 83rd minute after
Terry Phelan had delivered from the left.
Terry Gibson's side will be hoping for a slightly easier time when they travel
to Bournemouth on Wednesday 21st February (kick-off 2pm).
