Danny
Senda made a return after his accident in training as the Reserves went down by
three goals to nil at Underhill. Senda damaged ankle ligaments back in February
but has made a rapid return to action.
Senda, who will be 20 in April, was the oldest player in the Wycombe line-up and
will probably need a couple more games before being considered for First Team
football.
In contrast to Wycombe, Barnet included several players with First Team
experience, one of which was recent signing from Ipswich, Neil Midgley. Other
familiar names were Fraser Toms, Greg Heald and Wayne Purser.
Wycombe's best efforts came in the first-half as they kicked down the Underhill
slope - Pat Lynott seeing a 17th minute shot turned around the post by the Bees
keeper and from the resulting corner, a rusty Senda blasted over from the edge
of the penalty area.
Midgley should have scored on 30 minutes following a cross from the right but he
contrived to miss from about a yard out.
Barnet ran the show in the second period and opened the scoring on 56 minutes
after Roger Johnson clipped the heels of Midgley in the Wycombe penalty area.
Mark Gower scored from the spot kick.
It was 2-0 seven minutes later when Mark Osborn, who had an excellent game for
Wycombe, parried a Purser effort only for Midgley to make up for his
earlier miss by scoring with his back to goal as the ball looped up. Purser
completed the scoring for the home side in the 86th minute.
