Berks and Bucks Senior Cup
Quarter-Final		 Thatcham Town v WYCOMBE

Wycombe eased through to the semi-final of the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup with a 2-0 victory over Jewson Wessex League side Thatcham Town. Wanderers fielded a relatively strong side with Michael Simspon, Steve Brown and Jason Cousins all given a run out after the recent suspensions. Only two of Wycombe's starting line-up were without First Team experience and it was no surprise when Wycombe took the lead on 14 minutes when Simpson's through ball found Mo Harkin and he walked the ball past Michael Riach in the Thatcham goal. Four minutes later Cousins saw a shot brilliantly tipped wide by Riach. This was quickly followed by a sweeping move by Wycombe that saw Harkin spread the ball wide left to Lee whose cross was smashed against the underside of the cross-bar by Richard Thompson. Harkin had no less than three more chances to extend Wycombe's lead prior to the break, the better chance coming six minutes before the break when he fired over from six yards.

The second-half was a scrappy affair with several injuries holding up play. Mark Westhead picked up a deadleg  but with no reserve 'keeper on the bench, he battled on. Steve Brown was sensibly withdrawn on 54 minutes after he threatened to get a little too much involved with one of his opponents. Thompson saw a shot pushed away by Riach in the 64th minute before the home side put in a late push for an equaliser. Wycombe held out and sealed victory when Lee Holsgrove drove the ball into the back of the net after Thompson had crashed a header against the bar.
Wycombe will meet Reading or Windsor and Eton at home in the semi-final on a date to be arranged.
