Wolves were defeated again by the Wanderers from Wycombe after a 48th minute own goal was enough to see Glenn Hoddle's side edged out. Earlier a Wycombe victory had looked unlikely as it was the visitors who dominated the opening 45 minutes and only two stops in quick succession just before the break by Frank Talia kept the scoresheet intact. Talia got down well to save from Seol Ki Hyeon on 40 minutes and then moments later blocked an effort from Leon Clarke. Stefan Oakes sent a 25 yarder over the bar for Wycombe in the final minute of the half but it was a rare moment to get excited about for the sparse crowd.
John Gorman changed things around at the break and the only goal of the game came when Tommy Mooney's strike from the edge of the box hit the right hand post and Joleon Lescott was the unfortunate Wolves player to direct the rebound back into the goal.
Oakes went close to making it 2-0 around the hour mark but it was substitute 'keeper Steve Williams who pulled out a full length save from Seol on 77 minutes to thwart Wolves again and leave Gorman with bragging rights over his former managerial colleague.
