Wycombe v Bury preview
BY OPTA

Wycombe enter another mid-table match with just two wins in their last seven league games. A victory against a Bury team in similar form will edge the Wanderers slightly nearer to safety, a definite improvement on last season's efforts.

Opta have previewed this match by taking nine categories of play, and looking at the top Chairboy and the top Shaker in each.

Dominating the shooting totals for Lawrie Sanchez's side is Sean Devine. He has had 82 shots in total with 45 of them hitting the target. Both of these are the highest totals in the division this season, a clear warning to the Bury defence. Devine, however, has not scored since January 8th, a six game barren run which is his longest at Adams Park.

Player-boss Andy Preece is the Bury player with the most shots, though nippy livewire Adrian Littlejohn has been the most accurate. The Shakers are one of the least accurate passing sides in Division Two, but fortunately for them they are facing a side who are even worse. Nick Daws has made 993 passes for the Gigg Lane outfit, with former Notts County schemer Michael Simpson the busiest Wanderer.

Dave Carroll leads the way in the crossing stakes, the veteran wingman showing no signs of age. Ex-Oldham battler Paul Reid, who joined Bury last summer, has been the keenest flanksman.

Defensively, Chris Swailes has been a marvel for Andy Preece's side. He has made more tackles and clearances than any other player at the club, and more than any player at Wycombe too. Combative Steve Brown has made 60 tackles from the Wycombe engine-room, while crocked defensive stalwart Jamie Bates still leads the way with 390 clearances.

Unfortunately for Wycombe's leading marksman Sean Devine, he is the player who has committed the most fouls and been offside most frequently. Indeed, his total of 61 is again the highest in Division Two, suggesting a lack of concentration from the former Barnet hitman. In contrast, Andy Preece has been flagged just 17 times.
