Stoke City v Wycombe
Division Two
Saturday 18th March 2000

Opta Head-to-Head
Nicky Mohan v Jason Cousins

The visit of Wycombe to the Britannia Stadium this weekend sees Stoke's tough centre-back Nicky Mohan reunited with his former team-mates and gives him a further chance to get one over his old pals after City's 4-0 win at Adams Park earlier in the season.

The 29-year-old defender played for the Wanderers for around 18 months before his transfer to Stoke, and during his time in Buckinghamshire, teamed up on many occasions with current Wycombe defender Jason Cousins.

In fact after Mohan's transfer, Cousins moved from right-back to fill the vacant gap in central defence and has played in the middle ever since, utilising his skill for reading the game.

Despite being pretty different defenders, their Opta stats are fairly similar with a few notable exceptions. Mohan, for instance, has scored four goals this season and his height is a big threat at set pieces. Cousins has scored just one in comparison but he is more comfortable on the ball and has a 100 per cent dribble completion rate.

In defensive terms, Cousins is the main man for tackles having won over half of the 63 he has attempted, while Mohan has made 376 clearances, in excess of 100 more than the Wycombe man.

Both men have picked up red cards this season - Cousins on two separate occasions - but the stoppers are usually noticed for their positive contributions and that is likely to be the case this weekend.
