Wycombe
v Millwall
Saturday 11th December 1999
Millwall will travel to Adams Park with high hopes following four successive league wins. Chief architect in that success has former Cambridge City forward
Neil Harris, who has raced up the goalscoring chats with nine goals in seven games, taking his season's total to 12.
Andy Baird has been less prolific for the Wanderers this season but last year's campaign showed what we was capable of, as he finished as the second highest scorer at the club in his first year in professional football. He has scored just twice this year in the league but his presence up-front helped Wycombe to beat Brentford.
Both men have been creative, with two goals apiece while the Millwall man's pass completion is 16 per cent higher. Baird has rarely ventured wide, delivering just six crosses all season, while Harris has swung in 38.
But he and Harris have completed a similar amount of dribbles. They are players who rely on pace rather than strength and are more than useful when chasing through-balls, though Baird in particular can hold the ball up well.
Harris has established himself as the premier striker at the Lions, whereas Wycombe's Scotsman is behind Sean Devine in the pecking order. But with Jermaine McSporran suspended and Paul Emblen injured he has a chance to rekindle his partnership with the former Barnet man.
