Oxford City 1 Wycombe Wanderers 1
Friday 26th July 2013
Friendly

Wanderers drew 1-1 with Conference North side Oxford City in their final scheduled friendly prior to the start of the Football League season. Albi Skendi gave the home side the lead on 11 minutes as they had the better of the early exchanges. However, Jon-Paul Pittman equalised on 38 minutes as Wanderers went on to dominate the remainder of the game. The match saw Gary Doherty return from injury for Wanderers.

City's opener came after Matt Ingram, who played on loan at City the previous season, had parried away Steve Basham's strike only for Skendi to convert from six yards. Wycombe finally got into their stride as the half concluded with the equaliser coming when Josh Scowen picked out new signing Steven Craig on the right flank who then powered past a defender before cutting the ball back from the byeline for Pittman to tap in.

Pittman went close in the second half too when his shot just before the hour mark struck the outside of the post. The game was then broken up by the usual flurry of pre-season friendly substitutions, although Wycombe had the better chances to win the game in the closing stages with Dean Morgan seeing a shot saved on 84 minutes and then on 88 minutes Josh Scowen saw a dipping effort strike the crossbar.
