ADAMS PARK CONDEMNED
(Wednesday 24th March 2010)
Adams Park As Wanderers followers attempt to dissect the mass of information regarding the 'Community Stadium' proposals, joint Wanderers and London Wasps 'owner' Steve Hayes has continued his diatribe on the current facilities at Adams Park, and contradicted comments from Club PR Chief Alan Parry and praise afforded to Club staff through Football League awards.

In an article published in the Bucks Free Press on Friday 19th March 2010, Hayes was quoted as saying, "The matchday experience at Adams Park is not something we can be proud of. We want away fans to look at their fixtures and think Wycombe is a place they want to go to. Not many of them enjoy coming here at the moment. They have no facilities. They queue up at a kiosk or burger van, then watch the game and go." The incredulous comments are sure to have upset several of the matchday staff at Adams Park who as recent as February 2010 were awarded the 'The Football League Family Excellence Award' for 2010, where an article on the official website proudly claimed, "The judges were particularly impressed with the efforts clubs are making to ensure away travel is more attractive for families, ensuring they can enjoy the match together in a dedicated, safe, welcoming and entertaining environment".

Meanwhile, Adams Park has regularly drawn praise directly from away fans, including from this season's high profile visitors that include Leeds United, Charlton Athletic and Norwich City. Another article on the official website published in August 2009 commented on the Leeds fixture at Adams Park, saying, "Wycombe Wanderers have been inundated with phone calls and letters from Leeds United fans praising the club for the way they were treated at Saturday's League One encounter."

Hayes' comments also follow on from his claim in July 2009 that the 20 years old Adams Park is a 'budget stadium'. Hayes believes Wycombe, along with Wasps, need to improve their facilities to keep up with the progress of other clubs. The latest lambast of Adams Park comes less than 12 months after Alan Parry, Head of Media and PR at the Wanderers, eulogised over Adams Park when writing in the Wycombe v Aldershot programme from 18 April 2009, saying, "Spread the word. Tell everyone you meet how good it can be down at Adams Park. Tell them that we were voted the Family Club of the Year; tell them that we’ve got some of the best facilities outside of the Premier League; tell them that we’ve got the friendliest stewards in the business; tell them that we win more games than we lose."

Last summer Parry was criticised for a heavily bias look on the take-over bid by Steve Hayes via the official website and local press. It now seems just a matter a time before Parry is brought into line to unspin his Adams Park comments from April 2009 and heap praise on the latest plans from his employer.
